Position Summary
DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for dispatching Campus Safety Police Officers, Auxiliary Safety Officers, and Student Security Officers to routine and emergency calls for service via clear and concise two-way radio communication; receiving routine and emergency telephone calls and messages in an accurate, confident and professional manner; monitoring of college video surveillance system, fire/panic alarms, and other safety systems; and keeping accurate dispatch call logs and records.

Essential Functions

Responsible for dispatching Campus Safety Police Officers, Auxiliary Safety Officers, and Student Security Officers to routine and emergency calls for service via clear and concise two-way radio communication; receiving routine and emergency telephone calls and messages in an accurate, confident and professional manner; monitoring of college video surveillance system, fire/panic alarms, and other safety systems; and keeping accurate dispatch call logs and records.

Essential Functions
- Dispatch campus officers to routine and emergency calls for service via two-way radio communications and interact with York County 911 when necessary 30%
- Receive routine and emergency Campus Safety telephone calls for service in an accurate, confident and professional manner and transfer all incoming telephone calls to the York College switchboard in a pleasant, friendly and courteous manner 25%
- Keep accurate dispatch call logs and records 10%
- Monitor college video surveillance system and other alarm systems 10%
- Utilize the campus parking database, call recording and playback systems 5%
- Monitor LiveSafe App 5%
- Coordinate fleet vehicle reservations, stock dispatch office supplies, post dispatcher time sheets, college calendars, and department personnel schedules, and make sure department and dispatch databases and information are kept updated 5%
- Maintain a clean working environment 3%
- Send emergency alerts and LiveSafe push notifications when necessary 3%
- Assist and direct visitors at the CIC 2%
- Issue keys to campus fleet vehicles and make sure proper paperwork is assigned and turned back in 2%
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in telecommunications, two-way radio communications, public safety, emergency services or law enforcement preferred
- Current NAED Emergency Telecommunicator certification preferred
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation
- Must be able to handle confidential and protected data
- Must become familiar with Campus Safety operations, policies, procedures and campus locations
- Must be able to obtain NAED Emergency Telecommunicator Certification within 90 days of hire or appointment
- Ability to operate radio equipment, automatic switchboard, telephones, computers, CCTV cameras, call recording and other monitoring equipment required in a modern emergency communications center
- Ability to work well with others and interact tactfully with other people; good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm during high stress and emergency situations
- Ability to type, speak clearly and professionally, write legibly and spell correctly
- Ability to instruct others on the use and operation of all Dispatch and CIC equipment when requested
- Ability to obtain JNET and C.L.E.A.N. access/certification
