Job Description:
As a member of the undergraduate admissions staff, the Assistant Director of Admissions will work closely with the Admissions and Financial Aid team to support recruitment and assessment activities which align with the University's mission and annual enrollment goals. Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director focuses on visitor engagement across all constituents, including prospective students, parents and guidance counselors, while expanding visit opportunities for underrepresented students, counselors and communities. Seasonal Saturday work is required. Other duties will be assigned based on the selected candidate's background skills, and professional experience.
The Admissions and Financial Aid division requires a high degree of teamwork and camaraderie in a rapid paced setting, empathy and care for high school students and their families, a sustainable level of energy and commitment, nuanced communication skills and creative problem-solving abilities.

Essential Functions:
- Interviews prospective students, both in-person and virtually, in a manner that conveys the spirit of W&L while meeting the student where they are in their life and college search.
- Conducts high-energy group information sessions, both in-person and virtually, to express the unique attributes of W&L and the admissions process at a highly selective institution.
- Supports Saturday morning visitors as the primary admissions personnel on-site.
- During travel and reading season, serve as primary admission officer on site Monday- Friday.
- Assisting with individual visit coordination, such as class visits, student meetings and faculty/coach engagement.
- Support the logistics and execution of 5-8 recruitment events throughout the year, including DIVE, Scholarship Competitions, Open Houses, and Counselor Fly-ins.
- Utilize technology deftly in the workplace. Cultivate skill with Microsoft products and Slate CRM.
- Correspond with prospective students, their parents, secondary school personnel, alumni, and others, answering questions and providing counsel about the admission process and W&L programs and opportunities.
- Additional duties will be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to commit to the position for a minimum of two years
- Strong communication and writing skills. Demonstrated organizational abilities
- Experience with Slate CRM is highly desirable.
- Ability to work constructively as a team member and be capable of creative self-direction

Physical Requirements:
Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
Working Conditions: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Types of Work: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Minimum Pay:
$49,514.19 - Pay Commensurate with Experience
