Position Summary:

The Brandcenter seeks a highly motivated and qualified Assistant Director of Student Affairs. This position provides support to the Associate Director of the Brandcenter. The Assistant Director of Student Affairs will act as a liaison between the Brandcenter and its industry partners, alumni, and current students. This person ensures Brandcenter students receive excellent support throughout their academic and post-graduation journey.

Typical Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day Student Affairs operations alongside the Associate Director.
  • Partner with the Associate Director on internal and external projects and deliverables.
  • Advise students in accordance with our guiding principles and student expectations; serve as an advisor for our student organization, Brandcentral.
  • Conduct regular advising/office hours with students and share university resources as appropriate.
  • Help coordinate student- and alumni-centered programming including Friday Forum weekly speaker series, Recruiter Session, recruiter visits, graduation, and other programming as needed.
  • Help coordinate logistics for live-client projects.
  • Help organize and coordinate logistics for Brandcenter guests (mostly agency/company representatives coming to speak and recruit). This includes developing and cultivating our working partnerships with industry contacts.
  • Collect, research, and analyze student and program data as needed and use this data to predict and identify trends to inform programming decisions.
  • Utilize CRM to plan events and communications, and update student records as needed.
  • Assist as alumni liaison including maintaining the Alumni Linkedin group; coordinate alumni events, partnerships, and other engagement efforts and opportunities.
  • Assist with presentation materials, infographics, event materials, and other outreach needs.
  • Participates as needed in special projects. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain, plan, organize, and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service through oral and written communication.
  • Experience working with confidential materials, with the highest level of integrity, honesty, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, work under pressure, and with a sense of autonomy.
  • Proven technology and social media skills are mandatory, including a working knowledge of Google Suite products (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) are key, with an ability to learn new software.
  • Experience working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment or the commitment to do so as an employee at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using CRM software (Slate preferred).
  • 1-2 years of event coordination experience.
  • 1-2 years experience working in a professional office environment.

Typical Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, and may require periodic weekend and evening hours. This position is in person at the Brandcenter in Richmond, VA. This position is eligible for a limited hybrid and flexible work schedule once training is complete and must be coordinated and approved by the supervisor of this role. Hybrid and flexible arrangements may not be possible during campus events or high student service periods.
