Job Summary
The Office for Student Success is currently seeking an Associate Vice President for Student Excellence to envision and implement a strategically focused, high-impact, co-curricular student service area focused on maximizing student co-curricular potential. The AVP for Student Excellence will serve as the primary point person to design a highly resourced and fully developed advising model with partners across the university community. Additionally, this position will develop and implement a central career development model, work to close the first-generation students' preparation gap, develop an unrivaled support structure for tutoring and integrative success coaching, and provide full managerial and operational support for all units and initiatives within Student Excellence.
The units making up this area include Transformative Learning, Stuckert Career Center, University Academic Advising, First-Generation Student Services, Off-Campus Student Services, Center for Academic Resources and Enrichment Services ( CARES), and Student Support Services. The AVP for Student Excellence will be responsible for creating and leading a robust vision and research-informed approach for nationally recognized student support services. This position will partner with the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, college deans, associate deans, and units charged with university persistence and graduation to co-supervise and provide leadership, advocacy, and insight for student-facing issues.
The AVP for Student Excellence will be a key participant in developing Student Success unit strategies and maintaining compliance with university rules, procedures, and policies. This role will report to and work closely with the Vice President for Student Success. The AVP for Student Excellence will be required to have cohesive coordination with the Dean of Students, AVP for Well-Being, AVP for Financial Stability, and Student Success central office leadership to provide mission-driven implementation of unparalleled co-curricular student services to units within Student Excellence.

Preferred Education/Experience
The successful candidate will possess an advanced degree and at least ten years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in student services management or a closely aligned field. Experience in a comprehensive university with a highly diverse student population is also strongly preferred. While not required, a doctorate or other terminal degree is preferred. In addition, the new AVP will need a demonstrated commitment to student success and significant experience facilitating change, allocating and managing resources, and supervising staff.
