The Longmeadow Board of Health is seeking a FT Public Health Nurse: 40 hours per week. Position is responsible for ensuring the health and wellness of the residents of Longmeadow, and communities comprising the Eastern Hampden Shared Public Health Services (EHSPHS),  including investigating, reporting, and analyzing incidences of communicable diseases, performing health screenings and vaccination programs, and providing education and developing policies on all public health related matters.

Performs community outreach; develops researches and makes presentations on various health education initiatives at Adult Center, assisted living facilities, and other locations.  Maintains files; collects fees; assists with medical assistance program applications; and other related administrative duties.  

Respond to any MA Department of Public Health (MDPH) and Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) communication drills and attend any nursing public health trainings, emergency preparedness drills, or public health meetings as assigned by the Health Director.

Successful candidate must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; substantial initiative and judgment; strong organizational skills in a multi-task environment; display cultural competence, clinical and research skills; effective written and oral communication; and be proficient in the use of computer programs and word processing software with advanced Excel/Google Sheets. 

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field, and 5 to 7 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Active RN nursing license from Massachusetts Board of Nursing, BLS CPR Certification and Valid Driver’s license required. MAVEN certification preferred. Driver’s license required. Occasional night and extended day services as required for meetings and clinics.  May receive emergency calls and may supervise volunteers and service providers engaged in clinic work.
