The Longmeadow Planning & Community Development Department is seeking a PT Planning & Community Development Coordinator: 30 hours per week. The position is responsible for providing administrative support to the operations of the Department of Planning and Community Development, and for providing certain town boards and committees with clerical support related to meeting needs.

Responsibilities include responding to the public; preparing reports and correspondence; maintaining, updating and compiling departmental information; processing accounts payables receivables and payroll, supply ordering, data entry and miscellaneous clerical duties. 

  • Assists the general public with the application process for Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission filings.  Reviews applications for completeness. Retrieves Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission files and makes copies of documents or answers questions. Ensures that all petitions are filed and advertised in a timely manner. 
  • Disseminates information among other town departments and boards and solicits departmental and board/committee responses to relevant applications Prepares and issues Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission decisions, as required, and files them in a timely manner. 
  • Support the Chairs of the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission on setting and posting their respective meeting agendas in a timely manner; supply board members and commissioners with all documents to be reviewed during or in preparation for meetings; record and prepare meeting minutes. Attends all meetings of the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Conservation Commission.

High School diploma or equivalent, and 3 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Municipal experience preferred.

  • Salary $23.08 per hour DOE/DOQ
  • County Pension and Excellent Benefits
  • Monday – Thursday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm; Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
    • FLEX time is used to attend required board /commission/public hearing evening meetings outside normal work hours
