Assistant Voter Registrar - Temporary Part-Time
Hourly Range: $11.64 - $13.46

The General Registrar of the County of Nelson is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Registrar, for a term not to exceed the expected term of the General Registrar. Applicant must be a qualified voter of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Assistant Registrar must perform the duties outlined in Virginia Code § 24.2-112, as well as those determined by the General Registrar. These include, but are not limited to, the following: timely processing of registration applications and maintaining accurate and current registration records; assuring compliance with all laws and regulations regarding voter registration and elections; assisting the General Registrar and Electoral Board to insure the uniformity, legality and purity of elections; providing excellent customer service to all current and potential voters; and dealing with inquires and complaints from the general public.
Candidates must possess knowledge of and ability to use standard and proprietary computer programs. Candidate must also be able to deal with the public in a polite, courteous, pleasant and professional manner both in person and by phone. Helpful knowledge or skills include familiarity with the local government, community and political structure; accounting; standard office procedures, federal and state election laws; public relations along with good oral and written communication skills.
Though hours will be limited and at the discretion of the General Registrar, some evening and weekend hours will be necessary during election time. Valid Virginia driver's license or appropriate transportation is a must.
