Job Description:
The Longwood University Department of Theatre, Art, and Graphic and Animation Design is seeking a full-time, one year, Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography (F0094). The successful candidate should be willing to contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the department through teaching and service with our portfolio assessments.
We are seeking a versatile colleague who is a practicing artist dedicated to teaching photography in a traditional and contemporary art context. The selected candidate will be expected to teach courses in black & white chemical photography and digital photography. The candidate will have experience with technical skills related to operating film and digital cameras, working in black and white darkrooms, using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, printing with pigment inkjet printers and color profiles. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate will participate in departmental portfolio assessment activities. The successful candidate will help develop career goals for our photography students and manage the program's coordination with the studio faculty. Position includes oversight of photography studios including the maintaining and ordering of instructional supplies.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- This position requires an MFA degree in photography and professional, lens-based experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have taught photography at the university level.
- The candidate should have a strong exhibition record.
- The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to student success in writing and critical thinking
- The candidate should demonstrate the ability to adapt teaching methods and learning environments to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse college population.
