Director of Young Children's Program
The Young Children's Program Director is a 12-month Administrative Faculty Position reporting to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education.
In the College of Education, we work to disrupt, interrupt, and change systemic inequities in P-12 schools, adult education, and higher education by demanding equal and equitable rights, opportunities, and treatment for all; to produce inclusive and equitable participation, power, access, impacts, and outcomes for all groups, by embedding educational justice as part of our culture through people, places, programs, policies, and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Onsite everyday management of the staff, students
• Oversee policies (financial, educational, legal, evaluations, etc.)
• Communicate with parents on a regular basis
• Represent the YCP at weekly leadership meetings and other college/university events
• Conduct staff meetings and professional development activities
• Facilitate current grant and future grant opportunities
• Work collaboratively with education and other faculty individuals who are committed to teaching and to modeling exemplary methods for working with all learners and families of children
• Direct and maintain a nationally recognized young children's program and laboratory school
• Maintain and develop strong collaborative ties with disciplinary departments across campus (e.g., occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, and music)
• Maintain and develop collaborative partnerships with stakeholders outside of the university and experience working with early childhood centers, classrooms, schools and teachers in professional development activities
• Be committed to providing culturally responsive, diverse, equitable and inclusive experiences for staff, students and families
• Other duties as directed by the Dean of the College of Education
Required Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Education
• Experience leading or coordinating early childhood education programs
• Experience working in a collaborative student-centered environment
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctorate in Education or related field
• Licensure in Early Childhood Education, and/or P-12 Administration
• Experience with state/ national accreditation
• Experience in teacher leadership and establishing a strategic plan, leveraging resources to implement and execute strategic plan
