Voter Equipment Technician
$15.09 to $21.14 an hour. Part-time temporary, seasonal. Hours vary based on election schedule which includes elections every November, and possibility of primaries every June and during March of presidential election years. Special elections may be called at other times. Flexibility in scheduling is important.
Performs work in the set-up, maintenance and repair of voting equipment. Responsible for preparing and testing voting equipment for primaries, general elections and special elections; repairs/replaces damaged or malfunctioning parts. Maintains election supplies; Delivers voting equipment/election supplies to polling places, explaining/demonstrating, and training election officials on equipment operation, and receiving equipment/election supplies after election. Performs under supervision of the General Registrar and Electoral Board per Code of Virginia.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED;
- Minimum of one year of related computer maintenance work experience;
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel;
- Some customer service work experience;
- A valid Virginia driver's license is required;
- Must be a qualified voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia (24.2-112, Code of Virginia). —"Qualified voter" means a person who is entitled to vote pursuant to the Constitution of Virginia and who is (i) 18 years of age on or before the day of the election or qualified pursuant to § 24.2-403 or subsection D of § 24.2-544, (ii) a resident of the Commonwealth and of the precinct in which he offers to vote, and (iii) registered to vote. (24.2-101, Code of Virginia).
